Peter J. Krotec has over 25 years of experience practicing the law of domestic relations, at the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Krotec joined Syprett Meshad in 1989 and became a partner with the firm in 1994, serving several years as a managing partner. Mr. Krotec’s legal practice is primarily focused on helping men, women and families survive divorce. He devotes his practice to assisting parties in navigating and resolving matters involved with the dissolution of marriages concerning issues ranging from the division and distribution of assets, alimony, child support, and attorney’s fees and costs, to the determination of parenting plans including parental responsibilities and timesharing for minor children. Mr. Krotec’s practice is also devoted to cases concerning the establishment of paternity and post-judgment modification proceedings involving marital settlement agreements and/or final judgments.
Mr. Krotec holds an AV Preeminent®AVE rating, the highest rating possible, following a peer review process facilitated by the Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory, an organization which has been in existence for over 140 years. An “AV” Preeminent rating from the Directory in substance means that Mr. Krotec was given the highest rating possible for communication ability, responsiveness, quality of service, value for money, professional ethics and legal ability. He is licensed and admitted to practice before all Florida state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
A native Floridian born in Miami, Mr. Krotec earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in criminology with minors in economics and political science from the Florida State University. While attending FSU, Mr. Krotec was an active member and brother of the Theta Chi Fraternity; Criminology Honor Society; Lambda Alpha Epsilon Criminology Club; and, the FSU Pre-Law Society. Mr. Krotec received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1987 from the Stetson University College of Law, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Prior to joining Syprett Meshad, Mr. Krotec was employed as an Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth (12th) Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida. He is currently an active member in good standing of The Florida Bar and the Sarasota County Bar Association. Mr. Krotec is fully supported by several associate attorneys, legal assistants and paralegals of the firm.
